We are really excited to have Bob Russell speaking this year at Scribble Sessions.  Over the course of 40 years, Bob lead a congregation of 53 members meeting in a basement to a church of 18,000.  Southeast Christian Church is now the 6th largest church in America.

Those are the normal things that you would expect to read about the people who are speaking at your conference, but here is something that you wouldn’t expect to read…Bob Russell is not on Wikipedia.  That may seem strange, especially when you can find Bill Hybels and Rick Warren on Wikipedia.  It seems strange until you meet Bob.  Bob is incredibly unassuming.  He doesn’t come across as the kind of guy you would expect to build an 18,000 person church.  That may seem like a knock, but it isn’t.  He would even agree with that assessment.  So who built Southeast?  Bob gives every ounce of credit to God for building Southeast.  I know other guys would say the same thing about their churches, but when Bob says something like that it carries weight because he has never elbowed his way into the national spotlight.  Since retiring Bob has not been out sailing. Instead he has quietly been taking young ministers from all over the country under his wing to mentor and coach them towards effective ministry.  Bob is one of the most important and underrated voices on effective ministry in America today and that is why we are so excited and honored to have Bob Russell as a part of Scribble Sessions.
